THE GREEN FUND CO-FINANCES THE LIFE ADAPTS PROJECT

24/06/2026

The LIFE ADAPTS project “Climate change ADAptations to Protect Turtles and Monk Seals” was co-financed by the Green Fund for 2026, through the “European LIFE Programme 2026”, for the amount of €15,000 (Board of Directors Decision No. 341.7.1/2026).

The LIFE ADAPTS programme, with a total budget of €4,688,582.56, is co-financed by the European Commission at 57%, while the Green Fund has, to date, co-financed the project with a total amount of €18,000.

The programme is being implemented in three EU countries (Italy, Greece, and Cyprus) that host significant populations of three priority species: the marine turtles Caretta caretta and Chelonia mydas, and the Mediterranean monk seal Monachus monachus. The aim of the programme is to identify those coastal and marine areas that will be more resilient to the impacts expected to be caused by climate change and, therefore, will become exceptionally important areas for the future conservation of these species.
