The Mediterranean is under pressure
Rising sea levels and warming of the oceans threaten the survival of iconic species such as the #greenturtle , the #carettacaretta and the Mediterranean #monkseal
Nesting sites, breeding caves and feeding areas are at risk of disappearing or becoming unsuitable.
To face this challenge, LIFE ADAPTS was born, a project that sees us, MOm and ARCHELON, engaged for the next 5 years together with partners in Italy and Cyprus.
We will study the resilience of species to climate change through techniques such as e-DNA collection, satellite telemetry, drones, direct monitoring on beaches, infrared camera traps, cave restorations, rehabilitation facility upgrades and the involvement of volunteers, divers, boaters in citizen science activities.
Our goal? Protect key habitats, adapt conservation strategies and give these extraordinary inhabitants of the sea a future.
