UPDATE FOR THE SEAL PUP FROM LIPSI
31/01/2026
The little female seal that arrived to us from Lipsi early Monday morning is fighting for her life, in extremely poor nutritional condition. The animal is about 50 days old — meaning she is still in the period when she would normally be nursing from her mother. The normal weight at this age is about 30 kilos, whereas our little friend weighed only 11 kilos when she was found! This shows that the animal had been without its mother’s milk for many days.
Fortunately, it appears we are dealing with a little fighter, which is what has kept her alive and gives us hope that she may pull through. The members of the Rehabilitation Team are doing everything possible around the clock to stabilize the animal’s condition. Although her tests show some encouraging signs of improvement, we remain extremely cautious and hope for the best.
As always, we will keep you informed of any developments.
